Florian Zeller features the play "She is waiting for you", the scene of the Madeleine: the story of a woman who expects her husband, who trudge the Corsican mountains. Within a few hours, the character is devastated by waiting and questioning love.

To interpret these roles, the young theatre director has chosen Bruno Todeschini, Nicolas Vaude and Laetitia Casta, who had already embodied Ondine in the eponymous piece of Giraudoux, theatre Antoine in 2004, headed by Jacques Weber. His return is eagerly awaited, and does not leave indifferent reviews.

MADRID — Gallic actress Laetitia Casta has joined Fanny Ardant, Lee Kang-sheng and Jean-Pierre Leaud in the Louvre-set “Visages” (Face), the next film from tearaway Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang.
Tsai won a Berlin Silver Bear in 2005 for “A Wayward Cloud” and a Venice Golden Lion for 1994’s “Vive l’amour.”
Set to roll late October through January, 75% in France, and the rest in Tapei, “Face” is lede produced by Jacques Bidou and Marianne Dumoulin’s Paris-based JBA Production, in co-production with Ming-liang’s own Taiwanese label, Homegreen Films.

Film was inspired by an invitation from the Louvre to shoot in the famed Paris museum.
“Face” features a Chinese director who comes to the Louvre to shoot a film that turns on the Salome myth.
“The film in the film becomes a total disaster. ‘Face’ is part comedy and a film in a film in a film, reflecting on creative cinema and a tribute to the New Wave,” said Bidou, adding “Face” would be ready for delivery by May.
Hence “Face” features Tsai’s fetish actor Lee, plus also Ardant and Leaud.

Laetitia Casta back on stage at the beginning
Laetitia Casta in "She is waiting for you" by Florian Zeller

After holding the spotlight in the drama Born in 68, released in French cinemas on May 21 last year, Laetitia Casta plays in Elle t'attend, Suite écritepar Florian Zeller, the Theatre de la Madeleine, 9 September to 31 December 2008.

Four years after her first role in Ondine by Jean Giraudoux, directed by Jacques Weber, Laetitia Casta is on the boards alongside Bruno Todeschini and Nicolas Vaude in Elle t'attend Florian Zeller.

Young owner of Price Young Theatre of the French Academy in 2006 for his play If you die, Florian Zeller has chosen to embody the woman who is waiting for the man she loves under a burning sun of Corsica.

This intrigue, a priori county (a woman who is waiting for the man she loves and who is slow to come) will give rise to a succession of assumptions about the reasons for the delay. Even if we can calm the uproar caused by this expectation, it will be a way for her to explore the caves of love through questions remained unanswered.

The play, which will play at the Theatre de la Madeleine, 9 September to 31 December, will also mark the release of the book, it is waiting for you, published by Flammarion, scheduled for September 2008.

Laetitia Casta is the poster faces of Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-Liang (The flavor of watermelon) with Fanny Ardant, Jean-Pierre Léaud and Taiwanese actor Lee Kang-sheng from May 2009.

Archives: sensual Laetitia

Thank you for your comments on my note yesterday, your enthusiasm confirms my desire to show you other series mode that marked me.

That today has nothing to do. Based on Vogue Paris, she is much more recent (2004?), But I find it in the air time: everything bleached denim, this is exactly what I want to wear this time. And this gently wavy hair, stack is what I dream for six months (double click to enlarge images)!
vogue_casta_richardson1.jpg

I love also the ironic side of this series: while Terry Richardson is known for his photos usually openly sexual on this shooting, the idea is to play the paparazzi, in other words to keep at a distance. This gives rise to a false constraint magnetism enjôleur: In the face of the bomb Casta, one is very happy to play the voyeurs who mitraillent.

vogue_casta_richardson2.jpg
vogue_casta_richardson3.jpg

Minijupe, microshorts and t-shirts make perfectly fitting its forms in value. Again, the issue of changing patterns arise between us, how many models today could hold such a role outside Gisele? Small new display rarely such sensuality.
vogue_casta_richardson4.jpg

Finally, I like the naturalness of these photos. Of course Laetitia knows she is taking a photo, but we want to believe it does not really. Likewise we have doubt that the clothes selected by Emmanuelle Alt owe nothing to chance, but it seems that we too can be well don shorts and a mariner for our next Paris-New York. First.

Laetitia Casta, beautiful scene

Theatre. She plays a woman abandoned alongside Bruno Todeschini in "She is waiting for you", the piece de Florian Zeller. Meeting with an actress who did not play it.
Reports

Sanglée in a silky dress that sweeps its thin ankles and small flat shoes, she arrives radiant - motorcycle-taxi - the Theatre de la Madeleine. It occupies the same dressing room as Jeanne Moreau who triumphed three months ago in "Quartet" of Heiner Müller. The comparison makes her afraid, but at 30 years she did everything to deserve the compliment. Laetitia is a studious young woman. The text of "She is waiting for you", the piece de Florian Zeller it will play from September 9, is smeared notes, scribbles. On stage, a terrace overlooking the sea is thought to "Contempt" Godard and is believed to guess the Gulf of Bonifacio. During rehearsals, laughter rain. Between the actors, no competition or unsaid. They feel happy to be together, almost reluctant to leave penetrate a journalist to whom we must show the first words of a document previously announced as the event of the season.

an interview with Marie Affortit

Paris Match. "She is waiting for you" is going to Corsica. Is it counted in your choice, you're a native of Lumio?
Laetitia Casta. No, not really. The history and I enjoyed my island origins are not guided my decision. Florian Zeller had written his play well before our meeting, without thinking about me. What counted was the presence of the sun, the sea .. Something very sensual.

After Giraudoux, you explore the chasms of love. Would you love to inspire such heroines so passionate?
It would be inaccurate to me purely a lover ... I believe in the pursuit of vitality, energy, and physical joy. As Anna, I explore thousands of ways. But this character is not only a love. There is also something very dark and very violent in it. This is often the dark side of my people ...

Have you, like Anna, experienced the turmoil of waiting, as a man?
The play will speak for me. It is a scene that I give things to me. That is what is exciting for an actress: through a character, we can deliver much. But honestly, I'm different from Anna, and my personal life does not resemble her own.

Why have you waited four years before climbing back onstage?
"Ondine" was a revelation to me totally submerged. Before you can reinvest me with as much energy, I had to make bereavement. "She is waiting for you", with all its magnitude, and m'emporte me want to throw me again in a vacuum.

Is it more daring to slip into a contemporary setting?
With "She is waiting for you," I saw a second shot at heart. At no time, I have sought a contemporary text to prove that I could vary registers. I do not compute. "She is waiting for you" was presented, the instinct has played, it was very hard, and I am confident.

Florian Zeller it is also convincing in the way you save a scene that Jacques Weber, who guided your first steps on stage?
They are not comparable and I did not want to find a new Weber. For his physical, Jacques takes places, eating the walls, devours the scenery, the boards. It made me make a monumental leap and I dived under his benevolent protection. He became my father theatre, he knows. With Florian is a different order. What I like in him is that it allows me to enter another dimension, more intellectual, to go far in reflecting on the scene. Physically, I m'arrange with space, under his leadership. He is the boss. Our relationship is fine. I had a father, he is like my brother. It was the same age, is joined on the same path.

Have you taken over comedy?
I would have liked, but I have attended no school of its kind. I learned things along the world and making meetings. And it allowed me to immerse myself in a universe, while staying myself.

What actress are you? Speaker, obedient, in the balance of power or trust with the director?
There is obedience to me, but also a side horse crazy. Here, everything goes smoothly and without conflict. I work my character, we do know. Then, I present to me based on the vision of the director. Before proposing, I try things, if my approach would be meaningless.

Did he masochistic not to leave one career top model adulée to the scene might be judged harshly?
I do not fit on stage to take blows on the head. Far be it from me suffering! It's more a question of desire, realization of my dreams beyond the judgement of others. That's stronger than me, I have this taste of freedom exacerbated. The real risk is not to live my desires.

Are you sensitive to criticism?
Inspiring comments, I am accustomed for ages. Do not cause would be more boring. But it is the public who decides and who gives me the niaque.

The seduction is it an engine for you?
I think very few attractive people who seek to seduce permanently. It does not interest me. And it would be too dangerous to live in the meantime, in the eyes of others, there is nothing more exhausting.

Be honest, you know that for you, it's easier?
Often, we try to make me responsible for my image. I leave to others the task of managing their fantasies, their eyes or their curiosity. They see what they want to see.

Kids, go to the theatre?
No, never, my parents were short of time. They were young, working enormously. I grew up in Normandy, I spent my days in the campaign, in the forest. My education was more bucolic an academic. Let's say I was a little girl very spoiled by nature.

Play theatre is first rehearsals and then, each evening the scene. Family life is not too chamboulée?
During one month, rehearsals me intensely engaged. From September 9, regular schedules me make life easier. I have a daily appointment night ...

The film seems less you. How do you explain?
Someone told me that every day I added a pearl necklace for my preparation for my future in film. It is true, I think that is what I am trying to build. Gradually. With humility. Obviously, I want to find my audience on the screen. But today, I try to do things for which I really burns ... And it is the theatre, in particular, that I can live it. In cinema, I believe that the choices I made previously were not zero. I worked with people that I really admire ... But perhaps that for the moment, I am not fashionable ...

On the evening of the first, who will play for you?
For Anna, my character ... For all Anna! I want so much transcend me on stage. This is not for the others that I play, nor for the people I love. I play for me. If my family or my friends come, I will be affected, but at no time did I seek their support.

Not to mention your lovely physical, do you consider to be spoiled by life?
Reparlons out in twenty years, I've had time to take stock.

"She is waiting for you," Florian Zeller, with Laetitia Casta, Nicolas Vaude, Bruno Todeschini. Published
published by Flammarion, 155 pages, 12 euros. From September 9 at the Theatre de la Madeleine, Paris 8th. Reservations: 01 42 65 07 09.

Ralph Lauren to launch £2,000 ($3,540.00)women’s perfume

03-Sep-08

Ralph Lauren is launching a “super premium” perfume that will cost £2,000 a bottle. Love, which will be launched in Harrods in October, comes in a gold-plated bottle.

The fragrance is aimed at women aged 25 years old and over with “high spending powers”.

Antny Rankin, senior marketing and product manager at Ralph Lauren, says Love is the brand’s most exclusive fragrance will have “a more engaging marketing strategy than a blanket media campaign” to support its launch.

The super-premium launch comes despite increased pressure on consumer spending in the UK, which has led to a downturn in retail sales this year and persuaded many brands towards discount strategies.

Ralph Lauren is also bringing its Notorious fragrance, which was launched in the US over the summer, to the UK. Rankin says that the company is increasing its media spend by 150% to launch both brands. It has spent just £436,000 on its Romance perfume over the past year (Nielsen).

It says it has developed “an innovative media strategy” for Notorious including infusing the November issue of Marie Claire with the fragrance. It is also launching a red button campaign with ITV which will allow interactive viewers to order samples and find out more information about the fragrance.

The brand will be supported by a print and TV campaign starring French model Laetitia Casta.
Notorious will be available nationwide at Boots, Harrods, Selfridges and Debenhams.

It is hoped that the two launches will account for 60% of sales during the Christmas period.

Meeting
Laetitia Casta: "It is important that everything be lived"

Interviewed by Lydia Bacrie, updated 04/09/2008 - issued on 04/09/2008

It is one of the major events of the season! After four years of absence, Laetitia Casta back on stage with her waiting for you, a magnificent piece written and directed by Florian Zeller. On this occasion, the fine was entrusted, referring to the quest love with his character; revealing also with absolute sincerity his doubts, his desires, his thirst for theatre. Meeting with an actress free, intense ... And always so sensual!

When you read the first sentences She is waiting for you, you immediately think you've been a little inspiring Anna, heroin. A young woman committed to Corsica, which calls for the first time the man she loves. Florian Zeller he thought of you writing this piece? How did the meeting?

No, the coincidence is troubling, but Florian wrote this piece even before knowing who would interpret it. It was only after he thought of me! One day he called me to propose me to read his work and I immediately was love at first sight.

Tell us the story in a nutshell ...

This is a very beautiful about love, and the end of a love. A young woman, Anna, lives a story with Simon [Editor's note: played by Bruno Todeschini], a married man who decides to leave his wife and two daughters for her. He then join in Corsica in the house of his parents. In fact, this is a play about this strange moment where you pass the role of lover to that of women. This is where it all happens. And as any breaks, because Simon is going to steal, become increasingly elusive to disappear then so mysterious.

What moves you from?

What upsets me at Anna, is that it gives a whole. It is a woman in love, very loving. So far, she lived relations more or less missed, and then she made this meeting and she said that luck may finally turn. It is ready to do anything to this story that works. She decides to put a naked, take all the risks. She said: "I want to be your wife, I want a child you. "But in the face of it there is that the denial or silence ...

It is the story of an impossible love?

Yes. And I think it is all we came to spend a day with someone. We dream of a true love story, but the problem is we did not met the right person. The friends, family tell you: "Stop, you're in the process of destroying you, drop. "But we did not arrive. Beyond this tragic love story, I also see a sort of lesson, the fact of having to go through suffering to transform itself to be reborn.

You acknowledge in Anna?

I think that today I no longer need to feel an affinity with a character to play. I am often in the past, choosing roles because they resembled me. In The Blue Bicycle, Lea had the character of fighter who talked to me really. The Ames strong reminded me my roots, the famous Corsican vendetta. Here, for the first time, I feel lend me a character, giving me completely as long as there is necessary link between him and me. But what upsets me especially in Anna, it was his courage, his humility and his nobility.

You were talking about cinema. For you, experiences are they the same or on stage drama brings you there something different?

In film, you can always resume, re-taken. On stage, it is as if running a trafficking, and without the right to make mistakes! It is important that everything is experienced, focused, which takes the public. That's what attracted me to the theater. It gives the viewer with each other, we enter together in another world. The dream, a dream shared.

When has made your first encounter with theater?

I had 12 years and we had mounted a room with a troupe of amateurs who came into my college. It called Coup de theatre and I played the role of a museum director who loses memory. I immediately felt something very strong. Then I took classes for several years and I always go out very moved, very exalted.

It has taken until 2004 and Ondine so you end up the boards.

I wanted to redo the theatre for a long time and one day, by chance, a friend advised me to read Ondine, Giraudoux. A revelation! I felt a vital need to go back on stage to play this character was. It was I who approached Jacques Weber to make the staging of the play. Ondine Why? I do not really know. I felt that its poetry, its way of life things made me feel less alone. And then, it has a grace that gave me want to embody it.

This is an important part of the classical repertoire. You took many risks in choosing for the first time ...

In fact, I was very naive. I did not realize. But others are responsible for making me understand that I m'attaquais to something huge. Fortunately, I took all this rather late. If you're scared, they do nothing. It is my great strength to be new!

Why have waited so long before coming back on stage?

What I have lived with Ondine was so intense that I needed time to be caught again by a project. And then, I do not do theatre for the theatre. This has never been my approach, any more than cinema, by the way. This had to be as strong and at the same time totally unprecedented.

Anna is very different from Ondine ...

Absolutely. Ondine is a fluid. She runs, she lives, she is violent and child at a time. Anna is just the opposite. It is a cerebral woman, a woman who spends his time thinking. It's complicated, Anna. Ondine, it was one way, Anna is ten thousand ways. Anna is also a contemporary woman and I know now that I have this maturity there. I can play a woman today, I do not need me to hide behind a costume to interpret a character.

Do you feel you save again in danger?

Yes, more than ever. But it also means that I like!

THEATRE.
"Being an actress is barjot! "
A family house, the sun, sea and a woman in love: Laetitia Casta back on stage tomorrow at the Madeleine, "She is waiting for you," Florian Zeller. More still safe to have made the right choice in becoming an actress.
Interviewed by Caroline Andrieu | 08.09.2008, 07:00

"I'M NOT MORE a girl. "Laetitia Casta always speaks slowly, and a hushed voice, but she took the insurance. Four years after "Ondine" by Jean Giraudoux at the Theatre Antoine, it back on the boards tomorrow on the Madeleine in "She is waiting for you," Florian Zeller. In the meantime, she has played for film and television, she got married, she had a second child.
And now, 30 years, happy actress in the role of a woman very in love…

Between "Ondine" and "She is waiting for you," you have received many proposals.
What you have chosen?

Laetitia Casta. I had time because "Ondine" asked me a very strong commitment. I wanted to be the height of character, be able to fill it. It is the role of Anna who gave me the courage to return.

Anna loves a hommequi hesitates between her and the mother of his children. What does it so touching?

His love, very generous. This woman is in the immensity of things, she wants to know, it goes through. She said Simon elsewhere (Editor's note: interpreted by Bruno Todeschini) that it is full, and more love. One way to say: "You are evil crossed my coconut! "(She laughs). I'm looking for the humanity in each role is what interests me. Search, it can not be taught. It is a passion, life: always be alert to others, to question.

At what point did you know that this trade was for you?

The moment I put our feet on a plateau. I am entering another world and I felt that this was my place. The actress profession allows me to externalize. It's like a circle: everything is fluid, emotions entering and leaving, it's pretty healthy. It can live 10 000 lives in one. Being an actress is barjot: you can fall in love, die, change their identity all the time, and everything is justified! Children also have very well understood. They do not say: "I'll become a pirate or something else. "They say: 'I am. "And the actors have the right to continue to play like this, what happiness!

There was a click?

More than a click, an emergency. I had not decided: "I'm going to take photos and after I'll be an actress. "One day there was this sense of urgency in me as a woman. I felt even stronger need to express emotions, to give, and see what I could feel on stage.

The eyes of others, the public and the critics, you're able to ignore?

Yes, otherwise I would never nothing. I have spoken often of my old job, telling me attention, the models are not film, they can not. But as I had a real passion, and for me not to judge myself, I am rid of it. And then I do not want me concern that what I have to do.

Until December 31 at the Madeleine, rue de Suresnes (VIII). From Tuesday to Saturday 21 hours. On Saturday, 18 am to 30, Sunday at 15 hours. Price: from 11.50 to 29 €. Half price until 18 September. Tel. 01.42.65.07.09.

Florian Zeller directs Laetitia Casta in Elle waiting for you, a play about the horrors of passion
With more than eighty pieces on display, the new theatre season may spin. Summer is a time of very intense work for the entertainment which is preparing in secret rooms. Looking behind the scenes.

Every summer look a little in the Parisian theatres, cinemas whether private or public institutions. The first rehearsals often begin in June, cinemas close in July, it goes back to work in August. And in early September we tremble, because it comes early representations…

Paradoxically, summer is not at all a period of inactivity for theatres especially since this is the period of toilettages, beautification work, technical amendments.

Classified and Inventory of Historic Monuments, indoor theaters are very private Parisian treated by their owners. Obviously, the success accentuates wear. For the Bouffes Parisiens, inseparable from the memory of Jean-Claude Brialy, and hosting a new Anne Roumanoff in an excellent performance Anne, twenty years and more, as the Michodière nearby where Jacques Crépineau may give the poster Chat and mouse Ray Cooney with Francis Perrin and Jean-Luc Moreau, attendance led to sustained attention.

At the Madeleine too, it was the work this summer. "The theater was closed in July and August," says its director, Frederick Franck. "We have proceeded to run the home. From 1 August repetition of it waiting for you, took over in the decor. The delivery and installation of this scene took about a week and the latest key data are currently at the same time that will adjust the lights and all technical adjustments. "

To create a circle on paper as early as February, when Lætitia Casta said yes, the location opened in June. And continues at the counters while inside, the artists repeat… until the first public performance that took place yesterday, September 9.

Other players are already "passed", as they say. Thus the Porte Saint-Martin where the first imaginary representation of the Sick with Michel Bouquet took place on September 5.

"After rehearsals in June in Cachan, we stopped in July, said Georges Werler, the director. This period is a time for reflection, maturation, which is very important, a time which is particularly Michel Bouquet. On August 4, we have installed in the theatre, with the scenery and costumes. "No" general "in the theater that runs Jean-Claude Camus, plus nobody wants, nor the actors or producers let alone the press. But with more than eighty pieces on display in a month, it is better to get ahead…

The beautiful discipline Laetitia Casta

In rehearsal for it awaits you, the piece de Florian Zeller, Lætitia Casta is on the scene of the Theatre de la Madeleine. His profile is pretty loose, delicate, on the bottom of a very particular blue, a blue that would have heated the sun of the Mediterranean, a beautiful blue limed imagined by Thierry Flamand to translate space dream by Florian Zeller, the Board the house of Corsica in which the mother (Michele Moretti) installs his eldest daughter (Lætitia Casta) and his new lover, Simon (Bruno Todeschini). Anna has come up country childhood to present with him, for he knows. Enfermement of the island seclusion of the family: a sick father (Thierry Bosc), a little possessive brother (Nicolas Vaude), a younger sister ambiguous (Magali Woch). Simon, who left his wife three months ago, claims it will go for a ride in the mountains and disappears… Waiting sealed the atmosphere more than the burning sun. Anna spends a test under the eyes of anxious relatives… She is on the way.

For Lætitia Casta, we will see in October on Arte embody a woman free version baba cool in a film by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau (Born in 68), this role is timely. Fullness of passion, pain, acceptance of misfortune, rebellion, but légèreté too. "She has no real place. This is a great lover. It is very clear. It goes to the end. But it is open, humble, far from any submission. His energy and fills me if I know the fragility of this Anna, I can say that it helps me to refocus things. For me. And it is for me to play… "It unchecks one of his radiant smiles and désarmants. "I want to say that it is in contact with the personalities of actors brought together by Florian Zeller, whom I admire the finesse and maturity that I can move forward and that I understand better things in my life. "

Disciplinée and humble, as it always has been, it takes repetition. It seeks. Battle of pillows with Bruno Todeschini. "A cat," she says, charmée. She does not hide that it is impressed with this partner spent by the school des Amandiers, remained very close to Patrice Chéreau and has toured the beautiful film entitled His brother. "We must tame," she said, a dreamer. It is always a little as if she feared the judgement of those she admires. Yet, observing the work, one can not but be struck by his commitment, his taste for proposals. There is it a mixture of instinct and reasoning to be translated into permanent inventiveness.

A forthcoming film with Jean Pierre Léaud

With a taste for the game, the purity of a game that betrays the palpitations of childhood. Sitting in second place orchestra, Florian Zeller observes the actors he has gathered. After the scene of the room, change of scenery. On the terrace, phone calls resonate like gunshots. In the portfolio black dress designed by Dominica Borg, Anna fine silhouette is that of a woman fighter who ploie in doubt. Lætitia, she is happy. Her children are are happy, she dreams of one day playing with the man in her life, Stefano Accorsi. It took 30 years in May. It radiates. His last grief? The death of Yves Saint Laurent, last June. She deeply admired and remembers with affection. "He was shy, we understand without words. One day he offered me a rose and so many beautiful dresses ... Among its projects, the film's Taiwanese director Tsai Ming Liang (The Wayward cloud). And a shooting in October in Paris with Jean-Pierre Léaud and Fanny Ardant, the story of an actress who does more its image…

A new campaign for Laetitia Casta

French model Lætitia Casta is the face of Ralph Lauren’s Notorious fragrance

HAVING DONE HER DASH WITH L’Oréal Paris, French-born model Laetitia Casta has been moved within the group to the Ralph Lauren Fragrances division, and will front its campaign for its new line, Notorious.

The new campaign has been photographed by Michael Thompson and the commercial film has been directed by Wong Kar-Wai.

While the news of Casta’s appointment has been around for months, this is the first official announcement from the L’Oréal group.

‘Laetitia’s glamour, daring and powerful femininity make her the perfect face for this seductive fragrance,’ says Guillaume de Lesquen, President, Worldwide, Ralph Lauren Fragrances, in a press release. ‘She is classically beautiful, but lives her life in a completely modern way. Laetitia is Notorious.’

Casta was discovered at age 15 in Corsica by a talent scout, and persuaded her parents to move to Paris so she could pursue her modelling career. Her natural, youthful looks and curvy figure have seen her model widely in France—she was a favourite of Elle and Marie Claire—and is easily one of the country’s best known in the industry. She is recorded as measuring 5'6½" (1·69 m) in height.

In 1993, she signed with Guess Jeans for a successful advertising campaign, and in 1996, became one of Victoria’s Secret’s models.

She crossed over into acting in 1999 with Astérix et Obélix contre Cæsar, though her role was relatively minor. She gained more critical attention in La bicyclette bleue in 2000. She has continued to achieve higher goals in her acting career and will appear on stage in Elle t’attend at the Théâtre Madeleine in Paris this month.

In 2000, Casta was named as Marianne, the French face of womanhood—such praise may well earn her the tag of supermodel in some people’s eyes. She may well qualify: she is recognized by those outside the fashion world, and her first name alone does signify who she is. In earning terms, she is well behind Gisèle Bündchen and Heidi Klum but it is profile that determines whether the super- prefix applies. Until recently she even overshadowed Carla Bruni.

Lucire’s earlier impressions of Casta were less stellar in her earlier years, as she tended to stick to the script in interviews and getting across the sponsor’s message. However, most critics will agree that she has improved greatly in her acting career and her looks, as the new Ralph Lauren campaign indicates, have not diminished.

The Notorious campaign breaks this month in the US.

Taiwanese director ready to begin shooting of Louvre 'face'
Central News Agency
2008-10-15 09:39 PM

Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang was personally received Tuesday by the director of the Louvre Museum in Paris, less than a month before shooting begins at the famous museum for Tsai's latest film called "Visages."

The director, along with leading actress Laetitia Casta and actor Lee Kang-sheng, were welcomed by Henri Loyrett, the museum's director, and they gathered in front of Leonardo da Vinci's painting "St. John the Baptist," the face, or "visage" of Tsai's new endeavor.

The movie, a tribute to French New Wave cinema, will be a film within a film. It tells the story of a Chinese filmmaker who heads to the Louvre to shoot a film that revolves around the myth of Salome and her request to her father Herod that St. John the Baptist be beheaded.

Tsai said during the planning of the film that he was willing to shoot any painting except for da Vinci's Mona Lisa, and when reminded of Tsai's comment Tuesday, Loyrett laughed and agreed with the sentiment.

Tsai also asked Loyrett if the painting of St. John the Baptist could be exhibited in Taiwan when the film appears in movie theaters.

"It is possible for you to film wherever you want or borrow any painting, but you absolutely cannot borrow Mona Lisa, " Loyrett replied.

"Visages" is the museum's latest collaboration with filmmakers to create thematic productions based on its collection.

The release in 2006 of "The Da Vinci Code, " which showcased the museum in a number of its scenes, boosted the museum's popularity, with a record-breaking 84 million visitors setting foot in the Louvre in 2007.

"Visages, " a French-Taiwanese production, will also be another cross-cultural collaboration of different artistic elements, Loyrett noted, following the architectural cooperation with I. M. Pei in 1983 to construct the Louvre Pyramid, now a Paris landmark.

Loyrett went on to express his hope that the Louvre's significance would transcend borders through Tsai's creation.

Meanwhile, Tsai said he felt very proud and happy that a Taiwanese work would be chosen to feature the museum.

He believed that the Louvre wanted to show that cultural value could be preserved in movies, and said this Taiwanese production with French assistance would redefine art and show that movies are a type of culture as well.

After three years of preparation and NT$200 million in investment from Taiwan, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, shooting of the film is expected to begin Nov. 10.

Tsai will spend two and a half months in France and then shoot the remaining scenes in Taipei early next year.

The production has already been tapped as a possible hit at next year's Cannes International Film Festival.

27 AUGUST 2001
French supermodel Laetitia Casta and modelling agency Madison have called it quits as the beauty makes acting her first priority. And while insiders say the split was anything but amicable, executives at the famed firm insist the two parted on good terms.

“Laetitia had done eight years of great work with us, but it was time for us to go our separate ways,” says Madison boss Vincent Peters. “We wish her the best of luck with her acting.”

The Corsican model, who was discovered aged 15 on the beach with her parents, made her feature film debut in the 1999 comedy Asterix And Obelix. Since then, when not posing for Sports Illustrated’s prestigious swimsuit issue or gracing the covers of other magazines, Laetitia has starred in Gypsy and Savage Souls opposite John Malkovich. And while her films haven’t always been well-received, critics have applauded Laetitia’s efforts, going so far as to dub her the new Bridget Bardot.

The 23-year-old model, currently expecting her first child with photographer and video director Stephan Sednaoui, hasn’t been on the Madison Model books since June the firm reports. “It is correct that she is no longer being looked after by us,” says a representative from the agency. “She has appointed her father to represent her from now on.”

Louise Bourgoin will not be Gainsbourg Girl ... but a good substitute!
News published on Tuesday October 21

As tempting as it might have been, Louise Bourgoin, who made her debut on the big screen in the not at all essential La fille de Monaco, finally not precisely Bardot in the biopic on Serge Gainsbourg, as we infirm already this summer.

In the skin of BB, provocative beauty and muse of the most irreverent French poets - which, for the first time an exhibition is devoted, in the walls of the Cité de la Musique de Paris - is in fact that Laetitia Casta will reply to Serge Gainsbourg camped by Eric Elmosnino. Note that there will be two to relive the enfant terrible of French artistic life of the second half of the twentieth century: the Canadian musician Gonzales, which was illustrated as producer and / or arranger on the Go by Jane Birkin, the robots after all Katerine or Inventory Christophe Willem, will ... his agile hands to Gainsbourg.

The artist has a point of view good to him in the biopic, which prepares and mythology Gainsbarre in France: "Where I come from North America, there is no equivalent, he says, because many artists, like Gainsbourg, played with the superficial and self-derision, from Sinatra to Madonna. For me pay tribute to Gainsbourg, is to speak originality, and not imitate. It is often said that there was provocation. But what is shocking is not the politeness of French singers to him ... "

Laetitia Casta: "I believe in my dreams"
The former top model, actress since converted into its role in Asterix and Obelix against Caesar in 1999, is at the heart of the fresco romantic Arte on May 68 and its legacy. Interview.

Tell us about Catherine, your character.
This is a free woman, a woman who remains faithful to its ideals for forty years without trial on others. It is visionary in its thinking, but at the end of her life, she realizes she has missed love, the only thing we can not really control. She was released from everything except that.

Is that, like her, you have ideals?
My ideals? Being me and believe in my dreams to the end. It is a good way to create moments of grace and happiness around you.

What have you learned from this experience?
As a woman, it helped me understand things about the situation of women at the time. They fought for causes important, but today we tend to complain for a yes or a no and to forget the fighting, as if everything was acquired. Out of curiosity, I have read the book The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir. As a citizen, it allowed me to consolidate my political point of view, you know, the same as that of many artists! I had a political consciousness before the shooting, but it was buried. I belong to a generation who does not know too much on Ground between right and left.

You currently playing at the theater in the room waiting for you It Florian Zeller. Is it more difficult than film or television?
Let's say it's more intense, that's all, but I need all these media. I need to be on stage, I need to play is vital for me. It has always been like that, even when I was doing parades. You know, I am tired of justifying my profession as an actress because of my past dummy! Fortunately, my role in this piece-a woman who is not in anger or claim-enabled me to let go on lots of things.

Universal goes for 'Gainsbourg'
Film is studio's first French-language project

Universal’s first local-language French pic will be based on the life of Gaul’s iconic singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, who died in 1991.

“Serge Gainsbourg (vie heroique)” will mark graphic novelist Joann Sfar’s debut as a helmer.

Eric Elmosnino has been tapped to play the chanteur who was as famous for his glamorous lovers, including Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, as he was for penning such hits as “Je t’aime ... moi non plus.”

French model Laetitia Casta will play Bardot, with Mylene Jampanoi set to play Gainsbourg’s last paramour, Bambou, and Anna Mouglalis tapped to play French singer Juliette Greco, who collaborated with Gainsbourg for many years.

Pic will trace Gainsbourg from his youth growing up in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris, when he was called Lucien Ginsberg, through to his transformation into the hard-living showman. He died in 1991 at age 62.

Pic starts lensing Jan. 19 in Paris for 13 weeks. Universal Pictures Intl. Studio is co-producing with Studio 37, the production banner of French telco giant Orange.

One World Films’ Marc du Pontavice and Didier Lupfer are producing, with Sfar also penning the screenplay.

“Joann Sfar’s cutting-edge creativity and unique take on the character of Serge Gainsbourg is what really drew us to this project,” said Universal Pictures Intl. Studio prexy Christian Grass.

U will retain French theatrical and homevideo rights to the pic, which will be released in France in 2010.

Studio 37 gets the international rights, which will be handled by Kinology. Since launching in February, Universal Pictures Intl. Studio has been ramping up its local-language activities under Grass. The studio announced in May that it was co-funding Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces,” which reunites the Spanish helmer with muse Penelope Cruz.

UPI, along with Focus Features, is also co-funding Korean helmer Park Chan-wook’s vampire pic “Thirst.”

The stars pay tribute to stars

For some stars, find a name to their children are less originality as a tribute to a personality that has marked. The singer Liam Gallagher has, for example, called his eldest son Lennon, in memory of singer John Lennon that worships more than anyone else. Will we ever child named Gallagher in the course Recess? For his second son, Gene is the name that was chosen, which should in future give the kind of jokes Gene & Lennon are in a yellow submarine, etc..

(etc.)...

Fictional characters can also be the source of names for the children of stars. Indeed, the actor Nicolas Cage has even called one of his son Kal-El: The original name of Superman born on the planet Krypton. The top Laetitia Casta would have inspired the film Moulin Rouge Baz Luhrman has since called his daughter Sahteen as the main character (written by Satine) played by Nicole Kidman.

Laetitia Casta

Originally Corsican, the dummy and actress lends freshness and light extreme sensuality Notorious, the new women's fragrance, Ralph Lauren. Meeting.

How did your collaboration with Ralph Lauren? Very well, because I had already worked with him at the age of 16 years. I loved the concept very retro ad campaign. I love Lauren Bacall, Gena Rowlands and all women who have marked the history of cinema. I approached this role as if I played in a movie and I'm very proud of the result.

A smell you moving? That of my children, and especially my baby. It's like a drug! I also like the smell of organic concrete and stone. It reminds me of the Corsican mountains that marked my youth.

The perfume you are faithful? I am not loyal to a single juice, I change constantly, depending on my mood or situation. It also happens to choose a fragrance based on the character j'incarne, like patchouli to base that I adopted for my role in Born in 68.

What are your favorite smells? I do not like the smell flowery or sweet. I prefer the mysterious odor, strong and somewhat masculine. I appreciate Notorious because it has an element of mystery that I like very much.

One way to perfume in particular? I sprayed perfume in the air and I cross the cloud droplets. I also spray in my hair. I love perfume! For me, this is an extremely sensual gives me the impression that dress from head to toe.

Your luxury every day? Take a bath and light a scented candle ... divine!

Frank draws a portrait of comic hero
Posted by Allison Reber Dec 11 2008 in Magazine, Spotlight • 3 comments

intro_frank.jpgÀ 53 years, Frank is fascinated by the heroes of comics. So that the creator of brush in the journal Spirou has invented a game: as if Lucky Luke, Falbala or the Count of Champignac had really existed, and served as a model for their effigies of paper! Frank therefore fun to paint a realistic portrait of these famous characters. This gallery has become a beautiful book Portraits heroic, commented by 23 people fans of comics (from Jacques Chirac to Laetitia Casta, through Mika).

Where did the idea for this book?
portrait_champignac_franquin.jpgLe first portrait was made the Earl of Champignac for the 9th art gallery in Paris. I had done in tribute to that designed by Franquin [against this]. Then I made other characters for them. I have great memories of my visit to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, which brings beautiful portraits of popes, kings and bourgeois. The art of portrait implies a significant artistic involvement, this is very demanding. Making the portrait of comic book heroes was a way for me to credibility, but also to import comic qualities of painting. I do not consider myself a painter, but I wished me the rules of this art which seeks to tell the whole story of the character into a single image in a single exchange of scrutiny, could be said. In comics, there was more time!

Some characters are more difficult than others to represent?
For the county, it came very obvious. This proves, if necessary, behind the humorous approach Franquin hides a very sharp people. In contrast, I had more difficulty to represent Clifton, very stylized by Raymond Macherot. In Based on what we know of the character - its origins Anglo-Saxon for example - I was able to hang archetypes. However, I did not feel to have his portrait painted final, but have proposed a realistic version of it among other options. For some heroes, I used photos of people, in order to know precisely how the light falls on their face. And then others have flatly resisted, as the Castafiore.

portraits_frank_tournesol.jpgIl is actually no characters from the world of Herge in your book ...
They are part of the invisible part of the book! Because I was not allowed to present my portraits of characters in Peyo Hergé and that can be seen on the website of the 9th Art Gallery.

Why?
He should ask the owners of Hergé or Peyo. The law allows the caricatures and satires, not tributes. It's strange but it's like that. The beneficiaries were possibility of allowing the publication of my drawings, they have not helped. Yet I shall remain respectful of the characters. My portraits of the Smurfs could be seen as a satire and therefore permitted by law. To make them more real and more funny, I just wanted to dirty their white cap and add hair. But my publisher Dupuis works closely with the rights of Peyo and could not afford to quarrel with them ... Hence the lack of blue elves in my book. Fortunately I could find an agreement with Marsuprod, the company that handles the universe Franquin! The achievement of this book made me see that there is a huge gap between the creators and managers involved in the work ... I am sure that in their lifetime, Hergé or Peyo have accepted the publication of my illustrations. I know, for it knew that Peyo emphasized the friendship between authors. They saw that my contribution is in charge of sympathy for them and that this could only be positive.
portraits_frank_couv.jpg portraits_frank_lucky.jpg portraits_frank_lucky_croquis.jpg portraits_frank_titeuf-grand.jpg portraits_frank_titeuf_croquis.jpg

Found in your book characters of different eras. How have you chosen?
I worked on a heart. Beyond the characters that I am nostalgic, others more contemporary, have also affected. As of unspeakable Alix Conrad and Yann, Blacksad of Juanjo GUARNIDO or Titeuf Zep. Another of my rules was to choose non-realistic graphics styles in order to make them real, credible. Okay, it works better with Spirou, that I have many interpreters, with the pelisse with Loisel, who has already drawn quite realistic!

portraits_frank_falbala.jpgDessinerez you adventure Spirou and Fantasio you prepare in the realistic style?
No, the album will be more humorous bill. But I can not tell you more. I do not know if I work alone or with a screenwriter, the issue is still under debate.

Why dedicate your book to Andre Franquin?
I consider as my father in comics. Younger, I did not consider its influence, but its graphics and humanism that runs through his works were very marked. Franquin was a very fine observer who loved the real. I have not had the opportunity to work with him when we were in the magazine Spirou, but I know he was kind enough to buy some of my drawings. He also invited me to spend a memorable afternoon with him at the end of his life. It was extremely pleasing someone who was trying to laugh all the time.

You also thank Yvan Delporte ...
At the outset, it should write the text accompanying my portraits. It was indicated through his career in drafting Chief Spirou and its links with Andre Franquin. But he was already ill and therefore progressed slowly. When he decided to leave in March 2007, the texts were incomplete and we preferred to change the concept rather than extend his work.

Thus celebrities commenting on each character. How did you contacted Laetitia Casta, Jacques Chirac or Mary Higgins Clark?
We must ask it to Alain de Kuyssche [former journalist and chief editor of Spirou]. It was he who, through his address book has collected the testimonies. Smurfs damage that could not be part of the final book because he had managed to contact Al Gore to comment on their portraits! One day, inevitably, it will come out of cupboards to censorship ...

The Louvre, Gardens to Boiler Room, Becomes a Filmmaker’s Set

Laetitia Casta as a Lacroix-clad Salome in Tsai Ming-liang’s new film, “Visages” (“Face”).

PARIS — Strange things have been happening at the Louvre recently. A stag was sighted running wild in the gardens of the Tuileries. Discordant piano sounds have emanated from Napoleon III’s apartments. And the ravishing Laetitia Casta, the latest model for the bust of Marianne, who represents the French Republic across the country, was spotted half-naked among dusty pipes in the boiler room.

In Tsai Ming-liang’s new feature, “Visages” (“Face”), a stag appears in the Tuileries gardens.

There’s a simple explanation for all these oddities: the museum happens to be the set in which the Malaysian-born director Tsai Ming-liang, who is based in Taiwan, shot the final scenes of his latest film, “Visages” (“Face”).

Catherine Derosier-Pouchous, who is in charge of the Louvre’s film, audiovisual and multimedia department, sees the museum as a space with dramatic potential. It was the Louvre’s idea to extend this invitation to Mr. Tsai.

“We wanted to create a collection open to contemporary artists by inviting international directors with a singular artistic vision from Asia, America and Europe,” she said. The Louvre gave him complete artistic control over the project. And “Face” was inspired by this invitation.

This is Mr. Tsai’s 10th movie. He has won prizes at Berlin, Cannes and Venice for his moody reveries — “I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone,” “Vive L’Amour,” “The River,” “The Hole” — often shot in damp, claustrophobic spaces. Known for long, dimly lighted close-ups of unusual erotic encounters, he has also been inspired by François Truffaut.

His “What Time Is It There?” was made in tribute to Truffaut and starred Jean-Pierre Léaud, who began his career as the runaway boy in “The 400 Blows.”

“Face,” set in the Louvre’s royal apartments, around the Pyramid and in hidden sanctums, is a film within a film, about a Taiwanese director (Kang-sheng Lee) who is making a loopy adaptation of the lurid story of Salome (Ms. Casta), the stepdaughter of Herod who demands the head of John the Baptist (Mr. Léaud). The cast also includes the Truffaut favorites Jeanne Moreau, Fanny Ardant and Nathalie Baye. Ms. Moreau was an early love of Truffaut’s, Ms. Ardant his last. In “Face” Ms. Ardant plays the part of a producer trying to get her madcap movie made; Ms. Moreau appears to her in a dream, a soothing muse.

"The entire film is inspired by François Truffaut," Ms. Moreau said in a telephone interview. "We played archetypes of Truffaut’s actresses. I was Catherine from ‘Jules and Jim,’ and also the heroine of ‘The Bride Wore Black.’ I wore a white dress with black and white diamonds. And Jean-Pierre plays a director who desperately misses his double — François. We improvised, and I adore that.”

Referring to Mr. Tsai, she said, “He is so special, an outlaw and a dreamer — a director like that can take you to heaven, or the worst hell."

The Louvre took some risks inviting such a man to exercise his hocus-pocus in its hallowed halls — and to shoot homoerotic encounters in the bushes of the Tuileries. Before filming, Mr. Tsai haunted the Louvre for two years, free to roam apartments and spaces that had never been open to the public.

A fireman on the set took Mr. Tsai to a hidden pond beneath the Louvre, where the director then shot Ms. Casta up to her waist in murky waters. And he filmed Mr. Léaud crawling out of what looks like a giant mouse hole beneath Leonardo da Vinci’s portrait of St. John the Baptist.

Mr. Tsai made “Face” in six weeks, with a team from the Taiwanese production company Homegreen Films and a French crew from JBA Production. The Louvre supplied 775,000 euros (about $1.1 million), around 20 percent of the entire budget.

On the afternoon of Dec. 19, Ms. Casta’s last day on the set, Mr. Tsai, dressed in black and wearing sandals, was intently running the show behind his video monitor. He is a director of silences. He understands French and English, but prefers Mandarin, spoken in whispers to his interpreter.

When he calls, “Action,” it sounds like a prayer. There in the boiler room in the bowels of the Louvre, some of the crew wore anti-pollution masks against the dust, and Ms. Casta gamely dragged a train of gauze and bangles through the soot, saving a few coughs for later.

After the break Mr. Tsai talked about Ms. Casta. “I chose Laetitia because she wasn’t a typical actress, she has a fresh face.” He expressed admiration for the French director Robert Bresson and his way of choosing unorthodox actresses. “Laetitia has that quality,” he said. “She’s new.”

Mr. Tsai said he loved the way she danced with the stag in the snowy Tuileries, minimally clad in Christian Lacroix and singing Chinese songs against a tape. (Mr. Lacroix designed the film’s costumes, and Philippe Decouflé choreographed Salome’s dances.)

“She was very good,” Mr. Tsai said, “and she had never done anything like that before.”

Ms. Casta, who started her career as a model, has had tamer assignments. “It was fake snow,” she said, “but it was cold out there, and the minute I moved, the stag got scared and ran off into the gardens.”

“This is the first time I’ve done anything so experimental,” she added. “But I knew Ming-liang’s films — I trusted him. He works with his unconscious, so it was like being in a dream. I was astonished that the Louvre instigated a film like this.”

“Face,” originally titled “Salome,” was part of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival Atelier project, a showcase for films seeking completion financing. If all goes well, it may turn up at the festival next May.

In 2006, Apax was ousted from the leadership team of the founders and their families, still own nearly 40% of the capital. A new CEO had implemented a vigorous revival plan, renewing the creative team, by relocating production to Asia, or by reorganizing the supply chain. The accounts had recovered from 2007, with an operating profit of 12 million euros for a turnover of 189 million, up 8%, according to the website of Apax Partners.

But the crisis was tripping Morgan. The company was penalized by the bankruptcy of its UK subsidiary (30 million euros in sales), which it had resumed activities in 2006 before abandoning them in April. The sharp downturn in the market for ready-to-wear in 2008 has dealt a further blow. "Over the year 2008, sales should be down 9%, excluding the impact related to the arrest of the English," according to one close to the company. Waiting to be fixed on the future, Morgan continues its activity and balances prepares the monsters of the decade.
